My client is looking for an experience Aerospace Fitter to work at their Aerospace Manufacturing site.

The experience required for this role is as follows;

Working within an engineering environment.

Working with manufacturing jigs and assembly aids.

Using production tooling and machinery.

Desirable experience:

The conversion of raw materials and purchased parts into saleable manufactured products.

Working within ducting manufacture and be conversant with the use of both hand and machine forming tools and processes.

Sheet metal fabrication experience

Basic machining experience

Resistance Welding experience

Required Qualifications and Training;

3 Level 2 qualifications of English, Maths and 1 other

Desirable Qualifications and Training;

NVQ Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship

Required Job related Skills and Abilities;

Ability to inspect work to both company and customer standards

Ability to accurately measure using equipment such as a Vernier callipers and Pi Tapes.

Ability to read and work from engineering drawings .

Ability to follow “job cards”

Desirable Job related Skills and Abilities;

Experience of working with Titanium, Stainless steel and Nickel alloy materials.

In addition to the above, an enthusiastic, can do attitude with an ability to work under pressure is a must. Along with good eyesight and hand eye co-ordination and the ability to work additional hours when required is a necessity.

Your Key Duties and Responsibilities would include:

Ensure that the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is used for the operations being performed and ensure that PPE is appropriately stored or replaced as necessary

Use only the production machinery and tools that you have been trained and authorised to operate.

Ensure all materials and products are lifted and handled safely and in accordance with manual handling training provided.

Ensure that the required standards of behaviour and discipline are adhered to.

Ensure that all materials and work in progress are protected from deterioration and damage, using the correct storage boxes or stillage’s provided.

Ensure that positive identification and batch traceability are suitably maintained.

Maintain production machinery and tooling in accordance with any required operator preventive maintenance instructions or schedules, recording as required the maintenance activities undertaken

Utilise tools and machinery in safe manner and in accordance with all safety instructions and previous training provided.

Ensure that any required guarding is suitably in place and positioned. Immediately suspend use of, and report, any defective or unsafe tools, machinery, guarding or stopping devices to the Team Leader and HSE Officer.

Read, interpret and understand engineering drawings and associated shop packet paperwork (ie Job Card, Kitting Lists and Work Instructions) in order to determine how products are to be correctly manufactured.

Ensure that any measuring or production equipment used (and requiring calibration) is within its re-calibration date prior to use, reporting any expired items to the Team Leader

Select tools, check condition and set up in accordance with job card and/or work instructions, reporting any defective, broken or excessively worn tooling to the Team Leader. Ensure that all tooling is correctly and safely stored and located after use.

Accurately record the time expended on production work to the correct works order number on the EFACS recording system. Record components lost to the correct scrap code on the EFACS recording system.

Ensure that all production related work activities and records comply with relevant quality standards and NADCAP requirements.

Demonstrate a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Use hand tools, production machinery and tooling to cut, machine, form, shape and size components to their required dimensions specified on engineering drawings.

Use production machinery and tooling to resistance weld and join materials and components together in accordance with instructions and engineering drawing requirements.

Visually check the part prior to starting work to ensure it meets the standards required.

During each Job Card operation, check the quality of your work and confirm that it conforms to the requirements by recording & stamping the operation complete with any required measurements. Verify that the product is free from foreign objects prior to passing to the next stage of processing.

Attend training or participate in improvement events as required. Support the Team Leader in the training of new or temporary personnel.

Partake in cross-functional training to maintain a minimum of 4 in one coverage across all processes within the business.

Provide support and have the flexibility to move to another Production Team, should operational demands require it.

Associate Responsibilities;

Promote workspace organisation in accordance with Lean 5S principles and generally help to maintain a high standard of housekeeping throughout the factory.

Maintain a high standard of health and safety based upon safe working practices.

Ensure that all work activities and records comply with Company Policies, Procedures and Codes of Practice.

Ensure that your stamp is kept securely and understand that use of the stamp denotes confirmation that the work is to the required standard and that they accept responsibility for their work on that part and as detailed on the Job Card

Working day shifts of Monday -Friday, 7.15am – 3.15pm with an earlier finish on a Friday.
