We’re looking for a HGV Tramper Driver to join the transport team at a well-established, family-run haulage company in Cheshire.

The Company

With a fleet of forty units and fifty chemical tankers, the company has been providing services to clients across the UK and Europe for over 65 years.

The company holds all relevant accreditations including RHA and CBA, are assessed by SQAS and provide training in ADR Awareness Additionally, the company ensure all drivers achieve the Driver CPC qualification, partnering with Enterprise Transport Training.

Each unit in the company’s modern Volvo fleet is serviced every six weeks by a highly qualified team of onsite mechanics at the company’s workshops.

The company takes corporates social responsibility seriously and is proud to support a number of charities including St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice, Alzheimer’s Research UK and Leeds Teaching Hospitals Charitable Foundation.

The Role

This job has come about because of continued company growth through 2022.

The ideal candidate will have an ADR tanker licence, however, training can be provided if required. This is a tramping position that will require you to work away for most of the week.

Whilst an experienced HGV Driver with years of experience would be great, the company are happy to offer opportunities to newly passed drivers.

Key attributes are:

  • The ability to work calmly and in an organised way with the existing team of transport staff
  • The ability to complete vehicle and load checks, completing any necessary paperwork required
  • Working efficiently to planned routes and ETAs
  • The ability to liaise with customers and clients
  • Knowledge of WTD and highway code

The Offer

This is a permanent position (subject to completion of a three-month trial)

The salary on offer is paid at hourly rates.

Basic to 40 hours – £13.50 (Monday to Friday)

Overtime after 40 hours £14.00 (Monday to Friday)

Weekend rate – £16.50 working either Saturday OR Sunday depending on the person’s preference

Bank holiday rate – £26.50 per hour

Nights out – £28.84

The Shift pattern will be Monday to Friday, with one weekend day either every second or third week. Again, depending on the person’s preference.

In addition to the salary, the company also offers 20 days of annual leave plus the bank holidays, on-site parking and driver’s shower and toilet facilities.
