Change and Instrumentation Design Engineer

Reporting directly to the Head of Major Projects, your key duties will include:


  • Taking ownership of the electrical and C&I elements of project design packages
  • Producing design packs to client specifications
  • Responsibility for development of power and distribution designs at 415V and below
  • Translating user requirements specifications into functional design specifications
  • Producing conceptual design documents
  • Creating material specification for procurement
  • Undertaking value engineering activities to address cost or design performance
  • Maintaining design records
  • Producing factory acceptance test documentation, installation support information and commissioning documentation
  • Liaising with various teams in respect to design interface
  • Attending client meetings when required (occasional site visits which may require an overnight stay)


Key skills and experience required:

  • HNC/HND in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience of the design life cycle of a product
  • Experience working in a structure design engineering environment
  • Experience of producing designs for gas distribution or transmission networks, oil and gas of petrochemical industries
  • Previous experience of producing above designs for hazardous area applications would be beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of ATEX regulations would be an advantage
  • Strong communication skills
  • BEng (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering would be a strong advantage


Hours of work: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

Own transport required due to site location
