Working within an accounts practice is a bit like Marmite on your toast. Some people love it and can’t get enough, others can’t see how people stand it and will never have anything to do with it.
The idea of accounts practices being ‘stuffy’ or very patriarchal come from, small, stuffy accounts practices and the mental image of an accountant with piles of paper on their desk, struggling to complete the stat accounts in time for filing. In most people’s mental image, the accountant is probably smoking; so that should tell you how outdated this idea is.
However. For those who know that a practice environment is for them, this could be a fantastic opportunity. You will be dealing with the statutory accounts prep for SME’s, Limited Companies and Partnerships, working with the clients to formulate their accounts, often from incomplete records. You will be involved with FRS102 and FRS105 processes for clients. Experience of cloud-based accounting software, particularly Xero would be advantageous but not essential.
You will be responsible for supervising a small team, overseeing the work that they are responsible as well as managing your own portfolio of high value clients. This job will provide you will the opportunity to increase your exposure to accounting processes as well as to forge long-lasting relationships with key clients. The client journey will be key for you and you will strive to ensure that client satisfaction remains high.

The business are flexible on level of qualification, you could have qualified years ago, be newly qualified or be in the final stages of your ACCA / ACA / CTA or equivalent!
